Nic Yap

A screen a team cannot read soon goes unused.

Nic starts in multimedia design, working on layout, images and motion. The systems he builds today are held to the same test.

At the peak, five stores run at once on Lazada and Shopee.

The Nicasia name begins as an online store on Southeast Asian marketplaces, and sales take off at the end of 2014. He learns traffic, pricing, customer service and delivery on real orders.

At its peak, fifteen building sites run at once.

After Malaysia's lockdown lifts, he starts running a metal fabrication business. It works in mild steel for homes, shops, factories and construction projects of every size: large gates, railings, heavy-duty drain covers, anti-climb fencing, scaffolding, steel structures and site hoarding. Every job is made to drawing and seen through from measuring on site to installation. The daily headaches of that trade, a crew working in three languages and sites that go quiet, are where his systems began. Every step is recorded in a system he built, so he can follow each site without standing on it. He used to think the future of heavy industry was better machines. It turned out to be better systems.

His own 25 projects, all in view every day.

A morning report checks itself at 08:00 before he reads it. He registers Nicasia Digital Solutions to build the same kind of systems for other companies.
